| Post subject: | DVD drive suddenly doesnt work... |
I buildt a myth box for a friend, Dvd worked fine.. i did install libdvdcss. Well a couple weeks later, it doesnt work?? not for ripping.. and not for watching dvd's with xine. so here is what i have done with my limited knowlege of linux.. i first went to a commad prompt, and ran: Code: mplayer dvd:// /dvd it said... Quote: cannot open device with Libdvdcss. cannot open /dev/dvd for reading. btw i did try with a couple of different dvd's i then ran: Code: mount /dev/dvd it said: Quote: No medium found
I am able to mount any normal cd in the DVD drive.. I relize maybe its a bad DVD drive, any ideas of more troubleshooting techniques?? |

follow up.. i changed the dvd drive out, and it works like a charm |
