Hi Guys

I have recently done a clean re-install on my Knoppmyth box, I messed up the original install trying to upgrade certain packages......

I am very happy with my setup now, and will do an install guide and help when I am 100% happy with it....Myth and knoppmyth are awesome !!!!

Just one strange one......when I put in an original DVD and try to play it it just sits there. If i switch to the console screen (Ctrl-Alt-F1) there is a continous stream of errors, which say

I/O error:dev 0b:00, sector XXXXXXX

and the continually lists. I have to restart the gdm to get it back.....

This is very strange, considering that it will play my backup copies of dvd's, and video cd's perfectly.

Can anyone please help......

Regards

Matt Shaw

To save cesman the time... This is not an installation issue, this question should go in General knoppmyth... to answer it.. If by "original" you mean store bought, they are encrypted and knoppmyth will not by "default" play them as that would be breaking copy protection. If you dont live in the US you can look around and find the apt-get install X WHere X = the copy decryption software. But thats only if you dont live in the US.

Thanks for the help.....

I read through a few posts, and found a reference to a libdvdread3. So i did an apt-get install of that, but still get the same errors after a reboot.....

Do you think i have applied the correct patch ???? or should I be looking for something else ?????

Regards

Matt

That is not the right library.

If you closely read this info page about xine:

http://xinehq.de/index.php/about

you will find the name of the library. Sorry to be so roundabout about it but we live in interesting times...

libdvdread3 is on the right track. maybe you could look in it's documentation located at /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/ Might want to look for some examples.

If you can't get it from there I don't know what to say.

I have managed to get my mythbox playing commercial dvd's now (well most, apart from ones that have higher reolutions than my 640x480 setting will allow).....

I have tried twice now to rip a dvd, pressed 0, etc.....and it goes away and does the rip. It then completes. after exiting I have looked in video manager, but cannot find where the dvd has been ripped to.....

Can anyone please help ?????
