Post subject:  Trouble unpacking lirc

I am trying to follow the instructions at http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/index.php?page=HauppaugeOneFiftyInstallation to get my Hauppauge PVR150 remote working, but I can't seem to get the file unpacked. The file is "lirc-0.7.0.tar.bz2" I tried using tar and bunzip2, but no luck. Both say that the file is not the correct format. I am no linux expert, so any help would be great.

I finally just copied it to my widoze box and unpacked it there :(

If anyone has any idea what went wrong, then let me know.

Linux not hardware...
tar xjvf file.tar.bz2

I can never remeber the 'j' for some reason and always end up using a slightly more generic pattern:
Code:
bzip2 -dc | tar xvf -
This works even with the more primtive versions of tar found in backwards parts of the Unix-verse like SunOS... (Heck even the nawk under SunOS is the most primitive version I've seen in the past 5 years...)

well I remember a while back the tar switch for bz2 was I and just when I got used to that they changed it to j on me. I've pretty much got that one down, so it's about time to change it again. LOL
