I often use putty and vi from my windows box upstairs to make config changes to my Myth experiment in the basement. Is there a way to copy text from a windows program and paste it into vi over putty? This would make life easier when I am trying out new config options for lirc. |

Thanks! I tried middle-click before, but never the right click. |

Just make sure vi is in insert mode first. Otherwise the paste operation could likely invoke all kinds of commands and operations rather than actually pasting. |

You can modify the behaviour: in the options, under Window->Selection, you can choose between xterm behaviour (middle pastes), Windows behaviour (right mouse brings up menu) and a compromise. Putty is a quality tool. If anyone doesn't know, you can set up the named configuration in putty, and then create a shortcut to it and add "-load <configName>" to the shortcut target (in its Preferences). e.g. my target is: "C:\Documents and Settings\james\bin\putty.exe" -load PVR .. and then I pinned it to the start menu. |
