Post subject:  setting up device for usb webcam

back in the days of R4V5 I had my logitec webcam running and setup for motion. Im Now on R5A16 and would like to use the camera with zonalarm. zonealarm expects a camera to have a device to read from.

I have two PVR 250s (/dev/video0 and /dev/video1) I guess the webcam should be video2

When I pluged in the usb camera and see the following:
Code:
% lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 046d:0870 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Express
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
so I assume the camera is connected. guess I need to load some module to tie the cam to a device file.

there was a big hoopla between the kernel maintainers and the person developing the logitec driver, so it doesn't exist in the 2.6 kernels. you can google for more information, and possible solutions.

What is a proxy chain?
A Proxy chain is a connection of 2 or more proxy servers. ProxyWay allows to work with any Internet service through a proxy chain of SOCKS or HTTP proxies. Using the program you can create proxy services (cascades/chains) with any number of proxy servers (supports HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5) to provide IP address security and tunnel Internet activity through proxy servers.

My Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 works with the "out of the box" module in R5A16. I have defined a channel that uses the webcam and it works. The issue I have is the audio is out of sync with the video (slow by ~5 secs). I have it defined as a v4l capture card. I have defined a 640X480 recording profile to capture video. Every thing works except for the audio sync issue. I've tried defining the profile using RTJpeg & Mpeg4 but the sync problem persists.

Anyone have any advice? I'm out of things to try.

Thanks
