Post subject:  computer to computer network

ok, i have searched for help no good. so i am trying to get a internet connection over local area connection2 (ether net cable) but i cant seem to get it to work. im tring to be fruggle and not have to buy another wireless pci card. it will only be used to get tv listing data and weather no big thing.can it be done?

you really haven't given enough information. My first instinct is to say yes it's almost always possible to get an internet connection over an ethernet device.

If you don't have a switch/router and are trying to plug two computer together directly from NIC to NIC you need a special cable.

However as Xsecrets says you REALLY didn't provide enough information. Being frugal is perfectly reasonable, but being overly frugal with details when you're asking a question is just silly.

sorry i'm trying to get it all installed today to get it over with. ok heres my set up im tring to get my windows pc that is connected to my roommates wireless network connected to my knoppmyth tv. just with a ether cable hooking it up thur my lan plug, trying not to use a router just 1 cable. lmk if its possible and thanks in advance for the help.

it is possible. the lan cable will have to be a crossover cable, and the wireless port on the windows machine will have to be setup for internet connection sharing.
