Post subject: | Samba wierdness w. pretty |
I have used my mythbox just fine on on my windows network for over a year now. All the windows boxen on my network can mount the default myth share and stream videos w. ffmpeg & mythtv filters. When it came time to upgrade my main desktop this summer I decided to put nothing but linux on the new box and I'm loving it so far. I suppose I will get to the problem of reading the .nuv format like the other recent thread in this board, but right now I've got a much wierder problem. From my linux desktop (debian sarge amd64) when I mount the /myth share, the /pretty directory has different contents that when I mount the same myth share on a windows box. On my linux box I see links for far more programs than I actually have on my disk at the moment. The folder is mostly links to old shows, In some cases really old. All of the links show up as broken links in Nautilus and Konquerer and give me a message about the target not being found if I try to open them. That even happens for shows that I do have on my hard drive right now. I just checked it and it only happens when I use SMBFS to mount the share. That is the default for SMB4K which I use to mount the windows shares on my network. When I do 'connect to server' in Nautilus, the share shows up just like in windows. Nautilus doesn't really mount the share it just wraps smbclient. When I ssh into the box and actually list the contents of the folder, it looks just like the way it did when I mounted it with SMB4K. Does anybody have any clue what's going on here or am I barking up the wrong tree? Maybe I should just forget about it and get off my sofa & upgrade to R5. |
