newbie.... i was wondering if mythtv has a function to change the channel on a cable box. I havent made one yet, but i was wondering if it doesnt have this functionality what do u useres do to watch movie channels or premium channels that have to be run off a cable box

Yes, you can set mythtv up to do this. Some cable boxes can be controlled via a serial connection. Others you can use an IR Blaster for.

don't forget hdtv cable boxes can be controlled and recorded from using firewire.
