I'm currently running an A16 backend on a 1ghz IBM Netvista, and an A16 frontend on a 2ghz IBM Intellistation. The video runs through a an Asante 10/100 wired/wireless router at 100 speed on Cat 5 wires, and works fine, except that the video stream kicks off all the wireless computers connected to the router.

Is there a bandwidth limit, and what would this portend for additional frontends simultaneously ?

Would running the videostream between the computers with a 10/100 hub downstream of the router cut the traffic through the router, and thus the kickoff of the wireless computers ?

Each stream (if you are using pvr cards) takes aprox 2.5Mbps, so you should be able to get several streams on a good 100Mbps network. your problem is probably with the Asante router they are not the higest end routers.

Well if you put them through a switch yes it would releave the load on the router, but a hub would not. I'm sure you are talking about a switch as it's very difficult to even find hubs anymore, but I thought I would point it out anyways.

I didn't know the video stream was such a small percent of the 100 mbps capacity.
I said hub 'cuz I wasn't sure if a switch would hinder the video stream. I'll look into getting a switch to offload the stream through the router.

You may find that the processor in the wireless router can not keep up with the amount of information flowing through it. I know I have had my wireless AP die every now and then when it gets strained.

Just really letting you know you are not the only one.
