I've recorded a home video onto my knoppmyth computer and have it linked to my www folder so I can download it to a computer with a DVD burner. When I try to download it through apache I just get a 0 byte file. Everything appears to work otherwise. When I do the same thing with a smaller file it works without any problems. The file I am having trouble with is just over 4 GB.

Is there a configuration in Apache to fix this?

This has been reported before when trying to get large files via MythWeb and/or the Apache server that's running on KnoppMyth:

Unless there's a reason you need to connect via a web browser, you should instead transfer the file some other way: scp, nfs, smb. I usually move things to a Windows machine via smb--I recently moved a 16GB file with no problems.

Thats for the reply. That seems to be exactly my problem. I can use samba on my home network fine, but I need to transfer this to my office where I have access to a DVD burner.

I think, maybe the simpilist thing will be to break up the file and do it in two parts.

What ports would I have to map in my router to get samba to work across the internet?

This isn't a good idea. You want to use SCP.

That's right. Set up ssh for remote login and if you have MS Windows at the office download WinSCP.

I would much rather do this the easiest way (no downloading) than the most secure. This will only be open for a day while I download the file, it isn't really worth the effort to me to set up a secure system for just that.

I really wouldn't recommend using samba directly over the internet, but if you must, forward these ports:

137, 138, 139, 445

A much better option would be to forward 22 (ssh) and use sftp in filezilla.
