After following some instructions for setting up LVM, it's working, a 60Gig attached to a 160Gig..

I noticed after a reboot that LVM is not started on bootup, after setting it to start on bootup I noticed on the screen it's scanning what looks like every device available in /dev .. Is this normal and how can I get rid of it if it isn't?

First time playing with LVM which seems identical to M$'s Dynamic drives.. (probably borrowed 1 way or another)

You need to change the filter setting in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf. There's a thread around here somewhere with the details.

Sorry, I usually search first.. That clears it up.

I decided to try XFS for the filesystem. sofar I'm impressed with the speed. (especially with deleting files)
