G'day all,

I thought I had got rid of this.

Has anybody got suggestions on how to remove it?
What their X*4 config looks like?
What their capture setting are.

I think I understand jitter, but I am not sure how to get rid of it...

G'day all,

A reboot seems to have cured it!

I've got the same problem here (PAL, Germany). The TV picture jitters after some time. After reloading the firmware (ivtvctl -H) it seems to work for the next hours.

At the moment I'm running the PVR350 with the latest Firmware version from ivtvdriver.org (http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware_versions) on KnoppMyth R5A26.

Does someone has an idea how to fix that?

Hi Marcel,

This is a funny observation. After what time exactly does the jitter occur? Jitter is: stopping video at irregular intervals for less than a second, sound goes on, right? Is jitter disappearing spontaniously? Is there any proces running during the jitter? On my system I have (what you may call) a jitter when I manually run mythfilldatabase during watching live TV. After mythfilldatabase is finished, the jitter disappears. So reloading firmware might be a pseudo solution after all.

Sorry, only curiosity here, no solutions :?

Happens to me too. PVR350 card, PAL, using card for both TV input and output.

The mythbox runs constantly, with about 5-6 hours of watching TV/recordings on it per day. The jitter seems to happen every 2-4 weeks.

It's always been cured by a reboot for me (sometimes multiple reboots). My dad complained that it was happening for a few weeks before I came home from uni, and he couldn't fix it no matter how many reboots he tried. But then I came home, and first reboot I did fixed it.

So it's fairly inconsistent!

How about this thread?:

Summary - turn VBI off, and maybe commflagging?

G'day all,

Thought I would give a bit of an update and some other thoughts.

The jitter is still there on occasions, BUT, it usually only happens after I have had to reboot. Sometime the only way to get rid of it is to cold boot and leave the the box off for a bit, this points to a hardware issue with the pvr 350, to me.
The choppyness is in playback not rec. I copied the file to a win box and watched there without choppines.

I also experience hard lock ups.
It seems to happen when I am watching a rec. prog. and a new rec. is about to start it just stops.

The backend also stop on occasions, it is still running but not doing anything anymore, looping? I can go to another box and I get a PHP error when using the webscreen.

The lasttime I had a lockup when watching rec. prog, I swiftly moved to another box and could still ssh in, soon after the network dropped!

All is all not very reliable, all hardware is new, loads of disk space, I have run memtest etc.

I am in the process of putting a webget to the main page and a look for and error and bounce the backend when it gets an error.
Also looking at a hardware watchdog to bounce the machine when it dies.
Does not fix the problem but gives better WAF. :-)

I am runing R5A22, I wonder if that is the problem?
Failing that I will go and get another m/board for the tier 1 list and move hardware, I am in need of another MB and maybe this will fix the issues?
