I use a crossover cable to transfer files from my PowerBook to my KnoppMyth system (videos, games and whatnot). When I copy from my PowerBook to the Linux system I get good speeds, but if I try and go the other way, it crawls. I have checked the cable and it is fine, I have even used several different cables with the same result. Does anyone know what might cause this? |

Hmm, I saw one other post with this kind of asymmetric network speed, also one apple player in the game... Can you run Code: ifconfig eth0
as root after copying from the linux box to the PowerBook? |

Are you using samba? If so, try ftp or nfs and see if its the same. |

pixelbend, this is usually due to either CPU load, hard disk speed/cache differences, or software/protocol incompatibilities. Th eliminate the latter, try using scp on the Mac. e.g. incoming to PowerBook: scp 192.168.0.2:/myth/tv/1001_20050411175900_20050411185900.nuv /tmp versus scp 192.168.0.2:/myth/tv/1001_20050411175900_20050411185900.nuv /dev/null Outgoing from PowerBook: scp /tmp/1001_20050411175900_20050411185900.nuv 192.168.0.2:/myth/tv versus scp /tmp/1001_20050411175900_20050411185900.nuv 192.168.0.2:/dev/null |
