Post subject:  setting the X display

I am running knoppmyth R5A30.2.
I can log in as mythtv and export my display to :0.0 and run xterm, and the xterm is displayed to the local X server. If I set my display to localhost:0.0 or 127.0.0.1:0 and run xterm, I get the following error.

xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:0.0

I get the same behavior if I try to set the display to a remote X session, like 192.168.1.5:0.

I have been working with Unix and X for many years and have never come accros this, so I'm guessing this is specific to Linux.

Can someone give me a clue?

Thanks

I think your problem is because by default X11 forwarding is disabled in knoppmyth. Edit the file "/etc/ssh/sshd_config" and change the line "X11Forwarding no" to "X11Forwarding yes". Then run the command "/etc/init.d/ssh restart" and try exporting your display agian.
