Post subject:  Help - deleted kernel-source [SOLVED]

I did something stupid and deleted my tarred linux source for R5A15.1. It's version 2.6.11.7-chw-4.

I found through kernel.org that I can a get a the 2.6.11.7 kernel source, but I assume this is more generic? Is this correct? I'm trying to install the new Nvidia 8178 graphic drivers, but I'll probably need it for other things too, eventually.

Is there a relatively easy way to extract the source off of the R5A15.1 install cd?

I saw on the Knoppmyth wiki that upgrading from R5A22 to one of the new distros is discouraged. Is this also the case for R5A15.1?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Solved it by running a frontend on another machine (luckily the source is available in /usr/src on a cd-only frontend)...then scp it to the main machine.

Funny, I thought I'd responded to the original of this... You can boot from your CD, exit to a shell session, mount your HD (search for "mount chroot" for details), and then copy the files from the CD image to the HD. That's the usual way to get lost stuff from the CD. If we don't have a wiki page on this we probably should...
