Good morning

I have recently switched to knoppmyth (for the ease of installation) although i have been using mythtv for almost two years- and upgraded step by step from version 0.14 via apt.
I tried to do the same to get from the 0.18 Version to the 0.19 version with apt-get but I get apt conflicts which I cannot resolve.
(Sorry for the german)

Quote:
dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von /var/cache/apt/archives/libavc1394-0_0.5.1-1_i386.deb (--unpack):
versuche »/usr/lib/libavc1394.so.0.2.1« zu überschreiben, welches auch in Paket libavc1394 ist
Fehler traten auf beim Bearbeiten von:
/var/cache/apt/archives/libavc1394-dev_0.5.1-1_i386.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/libavc1394-0_0.5.1-1_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
root@anaconda:/home/mythtv#

1) Is knopmmyth designed that one upgrades via apt to the next version of myth (I should hope so, since the basis is debian)
2)Has anybody got s clue how to handle this conflict from the package
ibavc1394-0_0.5.1-1_i386.deb ibavc1394-dev_0.5.1-1_i386.deb.
I also stumled across this problem when trying to install cinelerra (video editing)

Thnak you very much

The google translate page didn't do a very good job on the dpkg error message that
you included in your post.. So I am not sure what is going on. With that in mind!

what I would do is a "dpkg -r" on the offending 1394 packages then try the apt-get again.

If that works then do a apt-get for 1394 stuff, if you need it.

what I would do is download R5B7 that includes 0.19 and do an autoupgrade.

I second Xsecrets post. Going another route may net you A. no good answers and B. that whole 'unmapped territory' thing.

Hey, I am getting the same error...in English!

Code:
root@mythtv:~# apt-get install libquicktime0 libavc1394-0
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
libquicktime0 is already the newest version.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libavc1394-0
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 656 not upgraded.
3 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0B/20.6kB of archives.
After unpacking 98.3kB of additional disk space will be used.
Selecting previously deselected package libavc1394-0.
(Reading database ... 72285 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libavc1394-0 (from .../libavc1394-0_0.5.3-1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libavc1394-0_0.5.3-1_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libavc1394.so.0', which is also in package libavc1394
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libavc1394-0_0.5.3-1_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

The whole thing started by me trying to export my recordings to DVD...and mixing the instructions that I was following. I think I could have proceeded with what I had (using nuvexport alone), but ended up trying to install dvdauthor, transcode, mjpegtools, imagemagick and then started to get the error above.

I followed the first recommended solution "dlkg -r" and then try to re-install, with no success...

Please help.

I just got my knoppmyth installation going, back in Frebruary, and would hate to do some major back up and re-installation, if the whole thing could be fixed with the correct one-line command "apt-get install something!!!"

Is there a quick solution to the problem with this package?
