Post subject: | Trouble recording from composite input using R5B7 --SOLVED |
I've have a P4 box with a single PVR-150. After doing a clean Auto-install from the R5B7 disk and importing program/channel data using "mythfilldatabase --file" I try to schedule a simple manual record. The record job says it finished, but can't find the file, and mythbackend logs this: 2006-04-10 07:23:02.378 TVRec(1): Changing from None to RecordingOnly 2006-04-10 07:23:02.403 Channel::GetCurrentChannelNum(): Failed to find Channel '' 2006-04-10 07:23:02.406 Channel(/dev/video0)::TuneTo(): Error, failed to find channel. 2006-04-10 07:23:02.409 TVRec(1) Error: Failed to set channel to 116. Reverting to kState_None 2006-04-10 07:23:02.411 TVRec(1): Changing from RecordingOnly to None 2006-04-10 07:23:02.419 Finished recording 116 (116) "Mon Apr 10 07:23:00 2006": channel 1007 2006-04-10 07:23:02.424 scheduler: Last message repeated 1 times 2006-04-10 07:23:02.431 scheduler: Finished recording 2006-04-10 07:23:02.437 Started recording: 116 (116) "Mon Apr 10 07:23:00 2006": channel 1007 on cardid 1, sourceid 1 2006-04-10 07:23:02.443 scheduler: Started recording So just to let you know, I have run mythtv-setup and configured a single source, set my comp0 input to point to that source, and made sure each channel is associated with that source as well. The system used to work with R5A30.2, so I'm thinking about going back, but it sure would be nice if I could figure this out. Any suggestions? |

Hi, When you setup the manual channel edit of 116 did you also give it a freq id of 116? That may help as I use channel 1 with no problem. Mike |

The version of IvyTV included w/ R5B7 changes the input on the 150 and 500. I'd suggest deleting the card and adding it back again. |

Can you explain how the inputs changed? --I saw a reference to the inputs changing for IVTV 0.4.6, but according to the changelog, R5B7 only has 0.4.3., so I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. |

mjl wrote: Hi,

Mike This was it--though I don't quite understand why frequency/channel settings should matter for a composite signal. For anyone else who might be interested in the full solution, I ran mythtv-setup, selected an individual channel from my channel configuration, and on the secondsu page under "Frequency or Channel" I set 116 (even though the signal is coming through the composite inputs). The recording worked! Just to be sure, I went back and removed it--the recordings failed again just like they had before. I took the test one step further and changed the frequency id to 1, as mjl mentioned. This worked as well. So it seems pretty conculsive that .19 now needs a frequency id even when recording from composite--though it doesn't really matter what frequency or channel is used if you don't use the mythbox to control the channel (e.g. via onboard tuner or LIRC). Thanks for the help! |

Hi, One little tid-bit, if you are using channel 1 (don't know about higher end), to manually change off of channel 1, you need to select a channel of 2 or > but <10 before going to something of 10 or >. Works fine under manual record schedules. Mike |

I ran into this same issue before I got my irblaster and was setting the channels by hand. (most of what we recorded was on one channel) My solution was to make my external channel changing program /bin/true -- As if there is a failure status returned on the channel change commad, it does not record. This was not the case when I was running R5A16.. the freq id thing bit me later when tring to get the irblaster going as the argument that mythtv passes to the external channel change command is the "freq id". |
