I am trying to install my new Microsoft media center remote per the instructions at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MCE_Remote The second set of code tells me to wget the lirc-0.8.0.tar.bz2 (which I did). It then says to: bunzip lirc-0.8.0.tar.bz2. When I try to do that I get a no such thing as a bunzip error. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here. Is bunzip included with knoppmyth or should I use something else. |

Possibly that the file is corrupt. There's a section of the LinuxTips page on the wiki which deals with how to unpack various compression and archve formats. |

tjc, you have amazing powers of deduction. It turns out that the file was corrupt! I used another mirror to get the file and bunzip2 and it worked perfect. For anyone interested I changed the code listed in the Wiki from Code: wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/lirc/lirc-0.8.0.tar.bz2 to Code: wget http://superb-east.dl.sourceforge.net/lirc/lirc-0.8.0.tar.bz2

I blame Arthur Conan-Doyle for teaching me that you have to consider all of the possibilities and only eliminate the impossible. ![]() |
