Ok. So I guess the settings in the mysql.txt file redirect all database-related operations to the MBE? That explains why running mythfilldatabase during the initial setup of the "frontend" only machine didn't mess anything up.

How are the settings for the frontend in the database? Some of the available options don't seem to apply to frontend. Are the recording profiles controlled by the frontend?

2. Each frontends settings are stored in the db on the mbe.
3. You can set recording profile for each frontend.
