I am having some weird myth2xvid issues since I installed the new version of knoppmyth. Its the new myt2xvid3.

I have changed the directory so that it goes to my second harddrive. I did a couple of test runs by running the program manually as the mythtv user and everything worked out fine.

I then went into my front-end and ran a test run through there, works great. But when when I enable the Job through my recordings menu, it will not work. Looking in Mythweb the job goes to the queue, but then says completed almost immediately. I get an .XML file in the directory but no .avi file. The same thing happens when I try to start it through Mythweb, I get nothing.

Now my first question is where is this sort of stuff logged? I checked the Mythtvbackend log and there is nothing regarding this in there at all.

Second has anyone run into this issue and have a solution for me? I am suspecting that this may be a permissions issue, but without some sort of an error message its making this hard to fix.

Thanks

Incase anyone else runs into this issue I fixed it.

The myth2xvid script opens the /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt file, and there were some weird permission issues. So I just chmod 777 'd the file and now everything works fine.

Prob not the smartest or most elegant way to do it, but it works.

Still looking for info on where these sorts of commands are logged though, so if anyone knows gimme a post.

Spud, what version of KM are you running? On R5.5 /usr/local/bin/myt2xvid3 is quite different from /usr/local/bin/myth2xvid. The myth2xvid script never calls the mysql.txt file but myt2xvid3 does.

Logging for myth2xvid can be found in /var/log/mythtv/myth2xvid.log.

It doesn't look like myt2xvid3 has any logging but you could redirect the ouput to a file.

Ya its myt2xvid3 I am talking about. Sorry about the confusion.

I got it working now, so I won't worry too much about the logging. But I am slowly learning how to do all this stuff. Only been using Knoppmyth for 5 years now, you would think I should be a linux Guru by now.

I should be in a Knoppmyth commercial, if I can do it anyone can....

I'm having similar problems, I tried chmodding the sql txt file, but it still doesn't seem to save an avi anywhere that I can find. My backend log shows the following (this was only a fifteen minute video to encode):

Code:

processed:  19729 of 19776 frames at 48.96 fps (99.76%, eta: 0s)
mythtranscode finished.
processed:  19755 of 19776 frames at 49.02 fps (99.89%, eta: 0s)
ffmpeg finished.

2009-01-03 13:18:53.296 adding: mythtv as a client (events: 0)

It lloks like maybe the "Empty LocalHostName might be part of the problem but I still can't find why the encode doesn't save an avi in the /myth/video/archive directory.
edit: actually, after taking a closer look, this time the avi is there. I just need to figure out how to fix the feed with proper paths.
