Sorry for the delay in checking back with you. I had my power supply go out and it's not the easiest thing to get here on Maui. (boohoo) Anyway I am stuck I patitioned my hard drive as you recomended but I cant seam to be able to get out of the "Partition Menu". After writing thet partition table it kicks back to the previous menu 1.Partition or 2.Quit. I chose quit and the menu reapears. I rebooted and the partitions are there but I still only get the "Partition Menu" confused in maui, dag33k |

Unfortunately this happens with some drives and I am uncertain what the cause is. If you have another disto available, whip the drive clean then try w/ KnoppMyth again. cesman |

Ok I got it installed. YEA ![]() I used partion magic to clean the drive and set up the partitions. Couple of issues 1. When I tried "#mke2fs -O sparse_super -m0 -i8000000 -L cache -M /cache /dev/hda3 This should yeild some performance increase on /cache(used for the ring buffer) #mke2fs -j -O sparse_super -m0 -i8000000 -L myth -M /myth /dev/hda4 (I highly recommend a journalling fs for /dev/hda4) I got sparse_super OS not recogonized So I left it alone. 2. I have to run "startx" to get x going and then left click mythtv This is not a problem but it seemed like it would boot to Mythtv 3. When I try to watch tv I get a green screen and a small band of snow at the top of the screen. How do I check out if the tv-card is working correctly? I'm a purpetual *nix newbie. 4. Shouldn't I see the mouse/cursor on the main screen? Again not a huge problem the arrow keys work fine. Help me get the tv going and everything else seems to work. Mahalo for your time and patinence dag33k |

Odd, it should work. dag33k wrote: 2. Check /etc/inittab you should see something like this: Code: id:5:initdefault: This would be near the top of the file after some comments. If you see a 3 instead of a 5, make it a 5. This will start X automatically. dag33k wrote: 3. When I try to watch tv I get a green screen and a small band of snow at the top of the screen. How do I check out if the tv-card is working correctly? I'm a purpetual *nix newbie. What kind of tuner do you have? When KnoppMyth is booting you should see something about bttv and /dev/video. It goes by fast so at a prompt: Code: dmesg | more dag33k wrote: 4. Shouldn't I see the mouse/cursor on the main screen? does knoppmyth actually use runlevel 5? I've been making all my changes to 2 Doh! I just assumed since debian uses 2 that this would too. Well I guess I got what I deserved by assuming. |
