There are 2 additional versions of the kernel for the pcHDTV card(same patches as above less V4L2) and SMP same patches as above. There can be found in /usr/src/debs.

I guess I don't understand this. My pcHDTV card just arrived and I intend to tear into my Myth box this weekend and install the HD card and R4V3.

I'm guessing that after a V3 install there will be two different kernels installed on my Myth box in /usr/src/debs? And I guess I copy them to the proper location and reboot?

Sorry, I've only been playing with Knopp Myth for a short while — this is all new to me.

they are debian packaged kernels there is a readme that explains how to install them in /usr/src/debs/pchdtv_kernel/README

If you need help with setting up the hdtv kernel, send me a message. My card "works" as the hdtv card receives a signal, however I can't actually play it back or watch live tv. If you figure this out, PLEASE let me know.

Post subject:  IGot the kernel going, but black screen

Yes, I got the kernel compiled, pcHDTV drivers installed, dtvsignal shows a local digital PBS channel around here just hopping. But MYTH just pulls up a black screen when I try to Watch TV.

I see in the console:

QSocketDevice::writeBlock: Invalid Socket
Error writing stringlist
Remote encoder not responding

There is a patch floating around the pcHDTV Myth forum but either I am clueless how to run it (very likely) or the patch is not expecting a KnoppMyth distribution (seems to be looking for a cvs directory that doesn't exist?).

I may have to leanr how to do a cvs install of MYTH.

There is no need to patch and compile the kernel. A kernel with pcHDTV support is already included, you just need to install the .deb. Please read the README.

Post subject:  Kernel: great, Watch TV: nope.

Thanks, Cesman. You're right about the kernel. I did read the readme and installed the HD kernels. In fact, using the tools that came with the pcHDTV card, I can confirm that I am recieving HD. I even had the card write out a .ts file, moved it to my OS X machine and watched it with MPlayer.

So, no doubt, the kernel + drivers are doing their job. Excellent.

Now if I could get Myth to allow me to Watch TV without the black screen (thus the attempt at patching - I don't believe it's the kernel but rather for libmythtv).

Did you read: http://pchdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12? You may also get better results from the CVS version of MythTV.

Post subject:  I did read that too...

And followed the instructions, but no joy.

Any suggestions appreciated. I'm thinking for the time being just to use a cron job to record the shows I want to watch in high def, and moving them to another machine to play, as I want to watch them.
