I can't get any sound out of my knoppmyth box. The only strange thing that has happened is that the [ and ] keys no longer bring up the audio control, or do anything at all for that matter. Thanks. |

I was wondering if there was a fix for this? I also have the same problem. I am running R5E50 with a PVR-350. |

It's not uncommon. Searching for "pvr350" "alsa" and "mute" should turn up the appropriate directions. |

Perhaps I am missing something, but so far I have tried reinstalling Knoppmyth, running alsaconf multiple times (no errors), changing the General setup output settings to all configurations of PCM/Master and ALSA/default as my output. I do not have a modprobe.conf file. I have run alsamixer and unmuted everything and raised the volume across the board and tried capturing sound from both mic and line, and tried both internally controlling sound and using an external program, and I checked the volume in all the recording profiles. My previously recorded shows play fine, new shows and live TV are completely muted. I had been running R5E50 for about a month with no issues, then I had to reboot (not for any problems, just making some network config changes) and after that no volume controls at all. I have downloaded one of the shows that was recorded when I could not hear any sounds to my other PC and watched it, but there really was no sound. Sorry if I come of as angry, but I have been using Knoppmyth for some time now with little or no issues so I just got used to it, so this is getting very frustrating. Thanks for any guidance. |

I meant mute in the ivtv driver which captures and encodes the audio from the input signal... This doesn't have anything to do with the sound card, which isn't used for audio recording with a PVR (MPEG-2 encoder) card... Alsa was just in the search list because it shows up in those threads. |

I tried using the 'v4l2-ctl -c mute=0', 'v4l2-ctl -d0 -l |grep mute' and 'v4l2-ctl -d0 -l |grep vol'. When I list my audio outputs, there is only one, A/V audio out. I will also include this if it helps any: Quote: root@mythtv:/etc# v4l2-ctl --all

I seem to remember the 0.8.2 ivtv driver being dumb about that... The 0.10.x drivers are better about it, and also have a number of PVR-350 related fixes. Upgrade directions can be found here: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv-0.10.0 |

I used the article to upgrade ivtv, making sure to run the extra steps for the PVR-350, now after boot my screen colors are all wrong (being mainly red toneS) and I cannot get my mouse to work. Watching live TV still has a large black box in the middle of the screen with no sound, or sound controls. When I connect via SSH or switch to the console I cannot run mythtv-setup (to delete and re-add the PVR-350) due to it saying it cannot connect to the X server. When I try to restart the X Server everything hangs. |

From the wiki page: Quote: If you are using a PVR-350 for video output please see the README for module options you may need to add. Look for the note about "ivtv-fb".

This is the extra steps for the PVR-350 that I was talking about. EvilTwin wrote: From the wiki page:

Anyone? I re-installed Myth and it is giving the same issues. Is something wrong with my capture card? |
