Post subject:  My story and Knoppmyth.. some strange behavior

So, dusted off an old Amd-K6 550 Mhz, 256 Sdram added a network card, 6 gig bootdisk and 160 gig for divx / recording. Tvcard is also there and i have soundcard onboard that is support under alsa i saw in dmesg :)

I Installed Knoppmyth without any problems (Auto install). But when i try to watch divx, i just sellect a movie (love the imdb info stuff) and then press enter.. i say's it is loading it and it then it flips back to the movies browser!
I tried to start manual a movie in te Xterminal but no luck, it gave these errors :

hmmm well that blows my theory, because the k6-2 can't use the i686 ones.

It sure sounds like the classic problem to me too. Search the forums and the MythTV FAQ for "Illegal instruction" you should turn up several potential causes. Actually, here is a link to the appropriate FAQ:

http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-20.html#ss20.1

Good luck!

From the docs...
Quote:
MPlayer: Compiled on an Athlon XP, recompile for different architecture or if you require additional features. Source is in /usr/src/r4v3_src
No need to remove, recompile and make install will over write the installed version.
