Post subject:  OTA HD5500 Channel Scan: No Tables on certain channels only?

Hi everyone,

I have a pair of HD5500 working well with OTA HD signals that I receive from the US (NBC, CBS, 2xPBS, FOX). However, there are a couple of channels that I can't tune that are broadcast locally (CBC and SRC in Montreal). When I perform a scan in mythsetup, I get a signal lock, then it tells me that there are "no tables". Running a scan in ssh with a couple of -v's shows that there are "filter timeouts". I also increased the filter timeout with the -5 option to no avail.

Not really sure where to go from here however, after adding the channel, myth shows the "L___" and tells me it can't lock.

I don't think that this is a signal strength issue since I am in Montreal close to these broadcast points (relative to the US channels that I pick up).

Any thoughts / guidance would be very much appreciated. I am running R5E50.

tks!

I have the same issue with one channel. Won't Lock consistantly. I have not been able to resolve with an outdoor antenna. I can get a 99% signal but no Lock.

Do you sometimes get lowercase letters within the ( )s? This Docmight help.

Thanks for the link ... Now that you mention it, yes, my "L" is lowercase ... however, this is all that I ever get (none of the other letters). Is the channel that you have problems with located close to you? Are you downtown with lots of buildings? I have read that with 8VSB, reflections and scatter can be very problematic and that a low powered directional antenna may be necessary.

This is what I get when I scan for the problematic local channels:

scan -vvvvv -5 cbcrc-ATSC
scanning cbcrc-ATSC
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
