Ok so I just installed knoppmyth on a 160GB SATA drive.. I had to do the manual install and I made one bootable partition of like 10 gigs, a 300mb swap , and then another 10gig and another partition with the rest of the drive... it installed fine, but when I reboot with the cd in it goes to the CD install screen again and I just hit the "quit to command prompt" and then i Type "X" to load X and it goes to a black and white screen with a black X and just hangs... if i boot the computer without the cd in it just loads windows like normal without asking if i wanted to boot knoppmyth.. heres my specs

Western Digital 250GB IDE drive (windows currently installed)
Western Digital 160GB SATA (knoppmyth installed
2 x Western Digital 400GB SATA RAID (file storage)
DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250GB
ATI Radeon x800 Pro

thanks for all your help..

Sounds like Lilo didn't install properly. You shouldn't be booting it witht he CD in for normal use.

Just guessing, but I bet that your Windows drive is your IDE0 Master (hda) and the Knoppmyth Drive is your IDE0 Slave (hdb). Linux needs to install lilo on HDA in the Master Boot partition. As for how to fix this now, I'm not entirely sure but just knowing "lilo" should get you started with a Google search.
