Strange one here, I have searched around the forums and have not found a match as of yet, but figure I am not the only one this hit...I would think at least.
Last night House was on Fox, and it seems American Idol needed even more time (as if they don't get enough the other 3 nights a week ). This must have been planned because Comcast had it indicated on their guide that displayed when my channelchange.sh was ran. It showed that American Idol was on from 7:00-8:07.
My program guide showed that it would only be on 7:00-8:00, so the scheduled House started at 8:00, and ended at 9:00. This cut off the recording 10 minutes early. I have a rule to record it any time on the channel, so it should of picked it up if the schedule changed, but there was no way for it to know that due to the program guide from Zap2it being wrong....
So, is there a better way to keep up to date program guides for "scheduled" changes, unlike sporting events and such that just arbitrarily push the schedule?
Sorry for the long post.

Don't blame Zap2It, blame FOX for not sticking to their published schedule.
Idol ran over their time and everything else after it was delayed on Fox. You can add extra time to any program, and if it something you really don't want to miss then just add some extra time for a safety net. This is especially true for live or sporting events, or any program following one of these events.

In no manner was I meaning to blame Zap2It...
My thing is that at some point Fox knew it was going to happen, even before American Idol started as it was displayed when I changed to the channel to record House.
I was just hoping for another point to "reconcile" when changes like this where made, as it must have been within a 24hr period as I retrieve the schedule each day, or does that not update but in fact only add new entries?

Also as an update, I just checked Zap2It's website and it still has American Idol in the 7:00-8:00 slot, but when checking Comcast's online schedule they have it indicated as 7:00-8:07.
So when relying on Zap2It there was no way to catch the correct time it seems.

I've been running into this lately as well....
I am not a sports fan at all, so I might be wrong here, but I believe that (college level?) basketball is starting to get into the end of the season and the games are becoming very important, thusly they are bumping other programming when they go long...... it's not something that the networks are really able to plan for and it mucks up everything afterwards.
I've just been trying to keep an eye out to see if they are starting on time and then manually adjusting the end time to accomodate.

Yeah, I can understand sports as much as I dont like it, but this seems to have been scheduled. Last minute maybe, as I can't tell when Comcast changed theres.
I was just hoping there was a work around, but unless Comcast opens up their schedule for us to query then I guess I just have to deal with it. Its just a show...and I heard it was not to good last night anyways.

Oh, I don't know. SNL had a GREAT take on Sanjaya last weekend, and I fully expect that after his performance (and his hair) last night, they'll have another one.
Remember to www.votefortheworst.com
One thing to remember about american idol is that it's live, so any changes to the schedule won't really be able to be posted anywhere in time.
I freaked out last night myself about House though. I'd recorded american idol and house on my newly setup dual tuner machine, and house ended early! I was panicking thinking I broke something somewhere.
The only other place I see shows do this is usually amazing race. I've taken to assuming it will be delayed and setting it to record 30 minutes extra.

Ah, to live in the east/central region of N America... You guys should come west as there are fewer issues with shows, particularily live shows, overrunning here due to the time difference...on second thought, stay where you are...there are too many people here already.
All kidding aside, my wife had an issue (therefore I had an issue) with Grey's Anatomy last week was marked as a repeat with my downloaded listings, but on Zap2It's website (tvlistings.com), they had it correctly marked as a new episode. I dunno. I try to check her programming to avoid issues, but remember you get what you pay for!

Yeah, Zap2it still has last weeks (the new one) episode scheduled for tomorrow night. Wonder what is really going to be on...

I bet Tivo has the same problems though. Their programming is only as good as the info they get, but you still have to pay for it. goofnrox wrote: Yeah, Zap2it still has last weeks (the new one) episode scheduled for tomorrow night. Greys anatomy has been known to run long this season, on a few episodes. Supposedly to screw with timeshifters, someone here said I think. That channel might be messing with the listings for the same reason. I think it's going to end up burning them though. Non-timeshifters get screwed just as often this way if not more.

Well, *cough* *cough*, I'm not suggesting you go download azureus and grab the torrented version of the program. I believe you might be able to purchase the show from itunes for $1.99 now but you'd have to check.
Either way, you'd have to watch it as a video rather than from the recorded program list.
Greys anatomy is one of those shows that missing an episode ends up feeling like you missed a chapter out of the middle of a novel.
With a title like "Grey's Anatomy", the show really should be showing off lots more of Ellen Pompeo too.
Speaking of Dr. Grey, I'm convinced that she's actually an undead. She drowned, was under water for 15 minutes and dead for at least an hour, talked to some ghosts including her mother, and a week later she's back on her feet as if she'd merely gone in for a wart removal from her left elbow.
Not only did she not experience any brain damage, but when she drowned, she seemed to be thinking "hey, this is neat. I don't need to breathe. I wonder if I have clean underwear on."
And did you notice just how pale she is?
She's undead. Maybe a zombie.

Same here. After missing it on Thurs, I looked Fri. Zap2It.com showed correctly for Friday's showing (Grey's is on twice, thurs, fri for those who don't know), but Myth had the old listing. So I ran an update, no change. I manually overrode it.
So it seems that Zap2IT had conflicting schedules.
As for American Idol, it was kown 4-5 days in advance that they would "supersize" Tuesday's show.

Yeah, that was my confusion as to why that was never updated on zap2it's site or feed.
Guess there is no perfect solution.
