The CVS version works. You should be able to download just the tv_grab_de_tvtoday and replace that without re-compiling all of xmltv. I say "should" because I haven't actually tried it as I run the win32 version on a different machine (long story).

Post subject:  OHHHH :-( ... xmltv_grab_de_tvtoday has been removed ...

Hi :-(

I have read on xmltv.org that in the newest release of xmltv the german grabber has been removed (because of restricted new copyrights!) ...

Now the question is has anybody an answer how to get the program info on analog and dvb-c channes on german cable tv?

I know there's a solution for grabbing out of videotext and / or epg, but how to import it in MythTV Database? Is it possible (maybe a new project) to use epg an tv direct for programming recoder?

nxtvepg can be used. I was using it before we moved to a house without cable.

See http://nxtvepg.sourceforge.net/ for more info.

Basic steps are:

1. Set it up. It is apt-get-able, so installing it is trivial, but it then needs to be set up to select the providers. Since I receive a mix of German/Austrian/Swiss channels, I had to set up multiple providers and merge them. See the documents.

2. Write a script that a) runs the grabber in no-daemon mode then b) dumps the results to an xml file (see the docs... it is easier than it sounds).

3. Look at the xml file to find the xml IDs. Change the xml IDs in your channel setup to match.

4. Add a final line to the script in (2) that runs mythfilldatabase --file <xmlfile>

5. Create a cron job to run this script once a day. Note: The cron job must run under the same userID that set up nxtvepg.

For dvb-c, you should be able to grab the EIT data. KBW in my area kept messing with the EIT feed, so I ended up feeding the nxtvepg into both my analog and digital lineups.

@alien

THANKS ... yes I have to use KabelBW ... :-( since they upgrade their networks with backchannels (for Internet / telephon) the quality of analog (and digital) channels is gone bad :-( ... many brinks sometimes (and it is NOT my lokal coax network!) ...

yes ... now I remember nxtvepg ... using it a long time ago for analog channels (time before xmltv and tvtoday grabber ...

I will try to get it work now with EIT data or try to impelemtn some script for nxtvepg ... I will share my knowledge soon if I go forward!
