Hi all,

I am new to KnoppMyth and I am having a difficult time getting my capture card to work. I found in a howto somewhere its easy to test with TVtime. So I installed it with: "apt-get tvtime libdscaler"

From a xterm I try to start it now but it keeps giving me a message about window.... properties not found........segment fault.

Has anyone got tvtime to work?

So I am trying to start Xawtv from a xterm, but this gives me: bus error.

I am some what lost, so anyt help is appreciated.

Perhaps posting your system configuration would help...

I examined the problems of my system a little farther.
But first the config:
Athlon1400
Nforce2 mainboard (integrated sound, tv-out and video)
Tv capture card cx88xx based

The problems I am having is because of the cx88 capture card, on www.bytesex.org I discovered the drivers for it are progressing.
So I compiled them, and they installed fine. (They can work, I tried the latest knoppix build)

The problem remaining is the bus-error XAWTV gives me, I discoverd there was a newer version of xawtv (which worked with my card in the latest knoppix build). So I am trying to compile Xawtv 3.92 now. Which fails because of library problems. Trying to fix this with apt-get completely ruins a lot of library dependencies.

Think the problem may also be in ALSA, just starting "alsamixer" gives me "bus-error" same as xawtv

So still a work in progress.

Solved a lot of my problems today. First of all the bus-errors where because of a corrupt image of knoppmyth.

Second my cx88xx based card wasnt working because of the cx8800 0.3 drivers. I compiled the 0.4 drivers from bytesex.org. Unloaded the old ones with modconf. And installed the new drivers to both the /media and the /v4l2 dir (parts of the old drivers where in both dirs??) Used "modprobe cx8800" then, card was detected and all modules where loaded.

Then I tried Xawtv from a xterm and I got image!! Scantv found a lot of channels, so the capture card is working! (Leadtek TV2000 XP expert) Sound still isnt working and screen quality is not as good as in windows, any one got any ideas on that?

Tried mythtv but it said my only video source was used for recording, so I couldnt use livetv??. Strange because I wasnt recording a thing.
