I have two ATI TV Wonder VEs installed in my box and only one seems to work. I have both setup in mythtv-setup (video and video0) but both seem to point to the same tuner. If I press "y" while watching live tv it looks like it switches, but when I pull the sound cable out of the back it's really the same tuner again.

My bttv0:
Code:
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv card=64 radio=0 tuner=2 pll=1

My bttv1:
Code:
alias char-major-81-1 bttv
options bttv card=64 radio=0 tuner=2 pll=1

I've also tried just having one bttv file with:
Code:
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv card=64,64 radio=0,0 tuner=2,2 pll=1,1

But I got the same results. I know both sound cards are cool since I can run alsa-mixer with c0 or c1 and they come up fine. Also, when I run dmesg I get about 100 lines of:
Code:
bttv0: reset, reinitialize
bttv0: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
bttv0: timeout: drop=8974 irq=45860/45860, risc=15896094, bits: VSYNC HSYNC OFLOW FDSR

Don't know if that means anything, but after searching for the last couple of days, I'm just stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Gonz

BTW, I'm running an nforce2 board in case it makes any difference.

/dev/video and /dev/video0 are one and the same. You should use /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 for your two cards. Append the following to /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv :
Code:
 options bttv card=64,64 radio=0,0 tuner=2,2 pll=1,1

Don't touch bttv0 ot bttv1.

I'll give that a try when I get home tonight.

Thanks!

Well, last night I setup the bttv file as below, did an update-modules, and restarted the backend (not sure I needed to, but I did). It took a little while to get the sound cards linked up with the appropriate tuner, but finally I got everything working together. PIP worked, I could record both channels, life was good.

This morning I went to check the weather and it hung up (as it sometimes does). So, I stopped the backend from another box and rebooted just to make sure everything was cool. When it came back up I had only one working tuner in black and white and it couldn't find /dev/dsp. :(

I managed to get /dev/dsp working by doing a modprobe on snd-card-0 (at least it seems like that did it), but the tuner is still in B&W and I only have one. I'll work on it again tonight to see if I can get it working again, but why would just rebooting hose it up? Could plug-and-play be moving stuff around and breaking things? It's getting pretty frustrating. Every time I'm close something like this happens. Someday I just hope I can get to Tier 2 instead of Tier 3 where I am now. :P

Thanks again,
Gonz

Disable plug and play in your BIOS and verify bttv is accurate.

Well, I solved the problem... I picked up a PVR-250 at Circuit City and have another one coming from CompUSA in the next day or so. :P I have it setup now with the 878 card as Encoder 1 and the 250 as Encoder 2 (not by choice). Hopefully when the 3rd comes in I'll get all three working together and everything will be perfect.

Thanks for all the help!
