Hi,
I'm on R5E50 right now and ran into another problem yesterday. I was about to try MythArchive and to burn a DVD. So I put the disk in the drive and an annoying pop-up came up asking me what I wanted to do with this disk. The problem is, my box has neither a mouse nor a keyboard connected to it. And I could not find a way to get rid of this pop-up windows via remote. I ended up killing X11 via ssh. But that can't really be the way it should be.
For now I disabled the frontend to look for CD/DVD activity.
Does anybody know what the proper way is to get rid of these pop-ups?

Thanks for any help.

Ralf

No solution here, but I see them too. They're pretty useless. It's some sort of notification that needs to be turned off, somewhere.

With a keyboard Alt-Tab would rotate through the windows but that doesn't help you...

Try going into /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps, removing the line that says:
Code:
[startup] {gnome-volume-manager}

and restarting X with "pkill xinit".

Thanks tjc as usual great help!

I was actually also able to get rid of the window via VNC. But of course with your suggestion it will not be a problem in the future anymore...

This is a great workaround for this situation! But, this thread isn't easy to find because it didn't have the text of the annoying message in it - until now!! :D

"you have inserted a blank disc what would you like to do?"
Answer: NOTHING!! GO AWAY!! ;)
