Post subject:  Ive Broke Mythfilldatabase Any Clues on how to fix it (UK)

I think I may have broke the UK RT Mythfilldatabase :oops:

I did a few changes to my system and I can only assume one of them broke it.

1/ I deleted a few records from the Electronic program guide in the database which related to recordings in 2026 the guide always said I had 7000+ days guide available. I dont think this is the cause though.

2/ I edited my StickSource.xmltv file in ~mythtv/.mythtv removing one channel that shouldnt have been in there (I dont think this is the problem because i restored a backup and It hasnt cured it). I have two sources Digital.xmltv and StickSource.xmltv (the StickSource is a cut down version which dosnt have all the channels that Digital does as that card dosnt get a good lock on all channels)

3/ I did a rescan for channels (just to see if any new channels had been added) (only on the Digital Source)

This is the ourput from Mythfilldatabase

It appears there is something wrong with the RadioTimes Feed, as I am getting the same message.

Bruce S.

ETA: I sent the following to the Contact e-mail address for the Radio Times:
Quote:
Hello,
There appears to be a problem with the XMLTV feed, a couple of people have
noticed the following output from their XMLTV grabber:

channel named 'Cartoon Network Too' seen twice at /usr/bin/tv_grab_uk_rt line
199.

It appears there are 2 entries for "Cartoon Network Too". From
http://xmltv.radiotimes.com/xmltv/channels.dat it is seen:

742|Cartoon Network Too
and
2044|Cartoon Network Too

I must thank you for the prevision of this service.

It will be unlikely that we'll see any changes before Monday.

Evening all.

I noticed this one too. Now your mileage may vary but i remarked out line 199 of the tv_grab_uk_rt file that brings up the duplicate channel name message and it seemed to fix the problem. it seems to be being caused by the radiotimes channel.dat file having a +1 type entry for cartoon network too (as stated above). Anyhoo after remarking out the above line I seem to be getting guide data again.

As I said, your mileage may vary I'm on R5F1 and I did remember to back up the file before changing it!!

Cheers

Edz

The other option is to...
cd /var/www
wget http://xmltv.radiotimes.com/xmltv/channels.dat
remove the duplicate Cartoon Network Too (I deleted the last one)
and change /usr/bin/tv_grab_uk_rt
around line 98
$XMLTV::Get_nice::Delay = 0; # since this is intended for grabbing
my $channel_list_uri = 'http://xmltv.radiotimes.com/xmltv/channels.dat';
my $channel_list_uri = 'http://localhost/channels.dat';

This will use a local copy, which might be safer that commenting out the message, but I don't know.

Not sure how often the channel lineup changes.
