I have about a million remotes. With the mythTV box I don't really need the DVD player and it's remote, and the TV is usually on the proper input for the mythTV box, just not on. Same with the Stereo.
I have two PVR-150s and am not using an IR blaster for any cable box or satellite. Is there a way to use the IR blaster to power on my TV? Or better yet, use one for the TV and the other for the Stereo?
But just the TV powering on with the mythTV remote would be a huge step, as I can leave the stereo on (usually do anyhow)
I've done some searching and it seems like some people have had success, but I can't find where anyone outlines how they did it.
Any nudges in the right direction would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks.

You could get a "Super Universal" remote like the Logitech Harmony variety. I have the Harmony 880 and love it. You can setup "programs" to turn on/off devices depending on what functions is desired. I have one for watching DVD's which will turn on my TV, switch to the correct input, and turn on the DVD player (could even have it open the tray to load a DVD). This is the same for my Mythbox (and TiVo), and Nintendo Wii. The remote is also "smart" allowing you to go from one function to another. If the TV is already on, say watching my Mythbox, and I want to watch a DVD it will only change the TV input and turn on the DVD player. The remotes are a bit pricey but I got mine for approx. half the price on Amazon.

Any ideas other than buying a new remote?

I do exactly that (control my tv - power, volume, input and channels). You need to one or more irexec entries in ~mythtv/.lircrc for the buttons on your remote that you want to use. The command that the irexec executes is something like: irsend -d /dev/irblasterd SEND_ONCE lg.conf POWER. I dont have the details handy at the moment, but that is thegist of it. The tricky thing is to find a lircd.conf for the device that you want to control (which you need to copy into /etc/irblaster/irblasterd.conf). If you cant find one, the other alternative is to record one using a homebrew ir received. That is how I got mine.
