Post subject:  The odd playlist hostname error

I have searched this forum and the mythtv archive for people who have fixed what seems to be a common error with scanning for new music. Lots of people were getting 'must give me a hostname' blah blah blah.

Anyways, I went from having it to not. Not 100% sure of the final fix but here is roughly what I did:

1) When I uploaded my files to my box, I did so as root. This resulted in a permissions issue so I ran "chown -R mythtv:mythtv /myth"

2) Double checked for proper hostname in the music db tables. Was seeing some odd stuff here, so I just deleted everything "truncate musicmetadata; truncate musicplaylist;". Most people seem to be recommending 'update musicplaylist set hostname='HOSTNAME';', as is done in the 0-8-to-0-9.sql musicdb file.

3) Wanted to get the hostname right. Added a new line with my eth0 ip to /etc/hosts and added my hostname to it. I did NOT add the hostname to the line with localhost.

I cannot gaurantee what did it, but I hope this helps.

I am having some trouble know when I scan though. All my files have been added, but the scan always freezes at 'Updating DB'. Has anyone seen this? On my initial scan (>2000 files) it froze at the 85% mark. Now it freezes at the 0% mark.
