I am using R5F1 updated to use Schedules Direct from the directions on the board. Recently I have noticed that the Xorg process would spike in CPU usage and lock my system down, forcing me to ssh into the system and kill the process. That seems to take care of it for a while, but eventually it comes back.

What I am seeing is a spike that happens sometime while I am using the system (MBE and FE combined with a seperate FE also) with no immediate issues, then it seems to catch up to it eventually. The attached image shows the User usage was spiked all day yesterday into today while I have watched/recoreded several shows on both systems without issues.

I have attempted to look into the logs and nothing jumpted out to me, does anyone have any clues?

Thanks alot guys, and keep up the good work!

Dunno if you upgraded any other pieces, but the UseEvents stuff seems to be critical for the current Nvidia drivers to be well behaved. Searching for that keyword should provide the details.

Well upon getting home and running top I found that the culprit was a process called x-window-manager. I was not sure if I could just kill that process as I have done with the xorg, but I tried it and all seems well right now.

As for the UseEvents, would the trigger to cause me to look at that be an ugrade in the nvidia drivers? I did not touch those when I completed the steps to use Schedules Direct - actually all I did was run the specific steps laid out on the forum to use it. My intention was to wait for 5.5 to come out and get everything else up to date.

Thanks.
