Post subject:  How can I fix choppy stream?

I am on my PC a lot, and I would like to be able to watch the shows I have recorded while doing my homework, or working on my PC.

I got the streaming to work, but its VERY choppy video, and sound. I tried some different settings in the stream, but it was all pretty choppy.

What might I do to fix this. Its a 100mb network, and not being used much. If the BE might have something to do with it its a 3400+ AMD with 512MB of ram, and a 250GB SATA 7200rpm drive.

3400+ AMD should be fine except _maybe_ for unassisted very
high end HD. 100mb net should be fine likewise.

If you are talking about streaming videos from the net then
I would guess your problem is internet related (unless you can
stream OK from somewhere else on the LAN). The rest of this
assumes that you are not streaming from the internet, but
trying to watch something (video or recording) that is stored
on the BE.

Is this a recording or playback issue? (Is the BE a combined
BE/FE and can you watch there OK? Is there another FE
where everything works OK?)

Have you run any kind of speed test on the LAN to make sure
it is ok? scp of a large file across the LAN will tell you the
transfer rate.

What hardware do you have in the FE. I would guess that is
where your problem is.

Are you running Knoppmyth, and the same version of KM on
both BE and FE?

Someone here may be able to help if you can give us more info.
