Has anyone been able to get automatic transcoding to work? I have tried to get it to work since R4V2 and never been able to get it working. Is there something I'm missing?

The setup:
Settings->TV Settings->Recording Profiles->Transcoders->Automatically Transcode Checked and all others left default.

You need to set the transcoding flag on your video source, not the transcoder. I'm really not sure what the transcode flag on the transcoder is for.... ?? Anyway thats how I have mine set and it works.

Still not transcoding :(. I even changed the other profiles (high, low) to transcode. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I got a manual transcode to work once. It turned a 1.2GB file into a 12GB file.

That's because the default transcode settings are set up to transcode MPEG2 to RTjpeg, which has a much lighter compression ratio (as you discovered).
