What is the procedure to setup Suspend2 in R5F27. I have run the script use_suspend2.sh
Code:
#/usr/local/bin/use_suspend2.sh
Do you wish to use Software Suspend?
y
Added Linux *
Skipping /vmlinuz.old
Added PowerOff
You'll need to reboot before you can suspend.
Suspend is located on the KnoppMyth menu.

as root on two completely different machines and everything appears ok. After a reboot I ran hibernate to test it out and this is what I got.
Code:
sh-3.1$ su
Password:
root@mythtv:/home/mythtv# hibernate
WARNING: No configuration file found (sysfs-disk.conf).
This script probably won't do anything.
hibernate: Unable to read configuration file sysfs-disk.conf (from TryMethod directive).
WARNING: No configuration file found (sysfs-ram.conf).
This script probably won't do anything.
hibernate: Unable to read configuration file sysfs-ram.conf (from TryMethod directive).
hibernate: No suitable suspend methods were found on your machine.
hibernate: You need to install a kernel with support for suspending to
hibernate: disk or RAM and reboot, then try again.
root@mythtv:/home/mythtv#

After searching the drives none of these files exist and what help there is in the existing related files keep referring back to these files. The net dos't help much ether because they keep referring back to tuxonice.net which has replaced Suspend2. There must be a step missing because I know the kernel has support built in and there is no trace of suspend in dmesg. Both of the bios where enabled for s3 before install.
Suggestions are welcomed.

Interesting, I asked about this in this thread but never tried it like you did.

From what I read in the changelog for R5F27, I saw that Suspend2 was taken out of the kernel.

Thanks avourk
Before every new version install I get the change log and post it into a document labeled in this case MythTV R5F27 which contains all relevant information for that version. I even had this high lighted in yellow
Modified installation scripts to remove suspend2

I need to read my own information more closely

Wow, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but is there an alternative to suspend2 included w/ R5F27?

Nothing that I am aware of. The only subsutute is the new and improved suspend2 called Tux On Ice. http://www.tuxonice.net/ You have to do a patch on the kennel and compile the program. http://wiki.tuxonice.net/DistroAndHardwareSetup
