I have an Apple Mac Pro system I occasionally use with VNC ("Chicken of the VNC" is the name of the OS X Mac client I'm using) to remote control my Myth box to add new videos to the database, etc.

Ever since the R5.5 upgrade though, I've discovered I can no longer type any numeric digits with it. If, for example, I'm trying to manually enter an IMDB number to do a lookup, I can't get it to take any numbers I type from the Mac, either using the numeric keyboard or the digits on the regular part of the keyboard.

These seem to work just fine if I use a keyboard connected locally to the Myth box.

Anyone else run into this?

I have a similar problem, but just with zeroes (but not for
entering channel numbers), and not just for VNC.

The point is that maybe my workaround will work for you.

Press Enter when you are in a field that you want to enter
a number into. It brings up a keyboard on the screen and
once that is up you can enter numbers, letters, anything
but space and enter, just by pressing the appropriate key.
This on screen keyboard is really designed to allow you to
use a remote to arrow around the highlighted key on the
keyboard and press Select to do the highlighted key.

When I'm remoted in via VNC, I'm not even able to get the ENTER key to bring up that on-screen keyboard. (It does when I use an actual PC keyboard attached to the Myth box though.)

I'm pretty sure this is a keyboard mapping issue with X - because I don't think VNC clients generally support any special keyboard mapping functions of this sort. I've found other people talking about what sounds like similar problems with various Linux distros here and there, on the Internet -- but no clear solutions that sound like they'd be safe to apply to knoppmyth without breaking the keyboard functionality of the attached PC keyboard.
