I'm a newbie, so please excuse my ignorance...

I am running knoppmyth 5.5.

I have a pcHDTV HD550 tuner that is having problems with the audio. When I tune by box to a digital channel the audio works great. When I select the analog tuner portion of the tuner card I have to use alsamixer to crank up the line-in volume to even hear the audio at all. I ended up plugging the pigtail from the tuner into the line-in jack of my mother board just to get it to work at all. Once I switch back to digital I get a lot of static and need to turn down the line in feed from alsamixer so I can hear the digital audio. One other thing I noticed is the analog audio just follows the Live TV. It doesn't change at all if I skip back / forward. Is there a work around for this? Does anyone know if I need to use the pigtail into the line-in jack or am I missing some other setting?

Thanks in advance for your help.

By doing this you are sending the raw audio to the sound card output instead of capturing the audio. You should turn the line-in volume back down. Then press <tab> in alsamixer to get to the capture or all menus. You need to enable the Line-in as the default capture device by scolling over to it and pressing the space bar. When it is enabled there should be some red text that says "capture" next to it. You also need to unmute and turn up the "capture" volume level.
