Post subject: | Blank White/No Video In Web-Based Flash Player |
Hi everyone, I am running a new default installation of R5F27 on a spare Dell laptop with an ADS Tech PCMCIA tuner as a proof-of-concept before I invest in better hardware. I can watch live TV fine from the laptop and I can record shows successfully from the mythweb interface so everything appears to be working OK. When I try to playback a recorded show from the MythWeb interface using the built-in flash player it just shows a blank white box and a right-click of the flash menu says "movie not loaded". From the main window, if I click on "Stream TV", select my show, and start streaming, I can't connect to the stream using VLC or Windows Media Player (obviously from a windows box) using the URL mms://mythtv:8001 or http://mythtv:8001. (Both the windows box and the KnopMyth test laptop are on the same LAN and the A-record "mythtv" is pingable on my home LAN's DNS). Any thoughts? |

If you selected mms in dropdown box in the mythstreamtv screen, then mmsh should have worked in vlc. Mythstreamtv isn't included in R5.5 so I have to remember but it also shows the command line that it uses. I used to use that command line, via ssh, but changed the bitrate from 500 to 2000? which greatly improved the video quality over the lan. |

Regardless of what VLC does, I should still be able to view recordings directly from the MythWeb site using the built-in flash player on a completely stock R5F27 install, right? My problem is the flash player just shows a blank white box where the stream should be and doesn't do anything no matter how long I let it sit. |

Hi Jason, I'm assuming you're running 0.20 version of MythTV since you are running stock R5F27. I'm the author of that version of the mythwebflash player, and admit that it is problematic. Don't confuse that version with the proof of concept version that is part of 0.21, which i am not part of. There is a write up on how to incorporate my version of the mythwebflash into a clean myth 0.20 installation here; http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... thWebFlash You may need this as reference if you choose to debug it. I think it was very dependent on the version of ffmpeg you have installed, I also believe that ffmpeg does not like its output directed to /dev/null, so redirection to a log file may be required. Also, you need to forward port 8080 on your router. BigB. |

Thanks bigB, I'll check those instructions out. I just assumed since the feature is present in a stock R5F27 install that it would work. Since everything here is on a local LAN I don't think I'll need to forward any ports but I will keep that in mind if I want to be able to play videos from outside my house. Again, thanks everyone for helping a newbie out! |
