ok. Just tried it.
I ran the command:
Code: mythvideo-scanner.pl --getposter --update /myth/video/TV\ Shows/ Which I think is correct to force update the database. Normally the posters should go into /myth/video/.covers and for other entries it does but in this case it is trying to write to the directory where the videos exist. That directory is write protected so it will fail. Code: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 2/07 - The Other 48 Days.avi Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Season: 2 Episode: 7 Prematch: Lost Postmatch: The Other 48 Days End ------------------------------ TV episode, looking up TVRage website...success Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Season: 2 Episode: 7 Subtitle: The Other 48 Days Lenght: 60 minutes Year: 2005 End ------------------------------ Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Season: 2 Episode: 7 Subtitle: The Other 48 Days Title Image: http://images.tvrage.com/shows/5/4284.jpg Lenght: 60 minutes Year: 2005 Plot: The first 48 days in the lives of the tail section survivors are revealed.Note: This episode is running 5 minutes longer than normal, making it end at 10:05

I retried with that specific episode and it no longer crashes. I suspect the issue was that in tvrage, had the episode as "?" which is probably accurate.
However, the --update parameter doesn't seem to be doing what I expected. I can see the information being retrieved properly but myth still has the older poster from the error pass. In my case I still end up with the Jurassic Park poster for my episodes of Lost.
Another issue I see is for Lost Season 4, my episodes look more like this:
Code: 08 Lost Season 4 Episode 8 Meet Kevin Johnson.avi
I really should be more consistent so feel free to tell me get my crap together but at least I seem to have interesting test cases!

Hey christ,
Just thinking out loud. If you were to reset the metadata for Lost season 4 episode 8, then ran mythvideo-cleaner.pl then mythvideo-scanner.pl, do you get the right poster?

Hi Christ,
--update does not actually update the poster, you need to delete the poster and grab it again.
Code: File exists, won't overwrite. Downloading image to: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 2/folder.jpg 500 FAILED to get image.
What this is saying is two things, which i know could be clearer. The first is that a poster already exists and it won't overwrite it. The second is when it tried to download a folder image it failed due to write restrictions.
Can you post some output that is created when you run the scanner over lost season 4. I suspect that the leading "08" is the release year, this will cause issues with the script (title = "08 lost"), otherwise it should be fine. Does the directory that holds season 4 also hold other seasons?
BigB.
PS. Thanks for running the script through its paces.

Thanks BigB. thanks for clarifying the poster issue. Do I have to delete it for each entry in Video Manager or can I simply delete the poster from the ".covers" directory?
Correct about the 500 error. Those particular directories are write protected so that no one accidentally deletes the media. The best solution for me will likely be to run the script on my main media server as opposed to my backend server.
As for Season 4 is it only season 4. You're guess is correct and I have included part of the output below. I'm concerned I'm taking you outside of what is reasonable in your script as it is probably easier for me to create a renaming script rather than for you to have to consider every twist and turn. I'm happy to keep testing these scenarios though until you've had enough
BTW, I note your script claims to be searching imdb. I believe the recommended site now is tmdb. I'm currently using the tmdb.pl script for my movies.
Code: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 4/15 Lost Season 4 Episodes 13 & 14 last 2 episodes.avi Details ------------------------------ Title: 15 Lost Season: 4 Episode: 15 Prematch: 15 Lost Postmatch: Episodes 13 & 14 last 2 episodes End ------------------------------ TV episode, looking up TVRage website...failed, trying broader searchSearching for [Episodes 13 & 14 last 2 episodes] at /episode_list/all

Hi Christ,
The script checks to see if the poster exists in the covers directory, if it doesn't it will download a new one.
I won't write code that is specific to your naming method, but i like to see how the script copes with various naming methods and perhaps make changes to the universal parser that exists in the script.
I am contemplating looking up the database to see which script the video manager uses instead of blindly using the imdb.pl script.
The number that preceeds the title appears to not be the year, can you explain what this number means?
I have a few things that i can implement that should fix "14 Lost Season 4 Episode 14 Theres no Place Like Home Part 3 (Last of Season).avi " to some extent. What i need to implement is something that when the script is sure that the file is an episode but doesn't get a hit on tvrage to try searching for the episode title instead, then find a match based on the series title.
BigB.

It is a redundant episode number in my case.

Hi Christ,
I few more fixes, let me know how it goes. Specifically the digits before the title.
BigB.

It seems to handle the leading digits properly now. I just did a quick run but I'm off to the airport just now. Will be back tomorrow.
The only failures seemed to be where I deviate from format such as:
Code: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 4/00 Lost Season 4 Episode 00 - Past Present and Future (Catch up to pre sea 4).avi which misinterprets this as "Jurassic Park" again. Code: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 4/00 Lost Season 4 Episode 00 - Past Present and Future (Catch up to pre sea 4).avi Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Season: 4 Prematch: 00 Lost Postmatch: Past Present and Future Catch up to pre sea End ------------------------------ Non-episode, looking up IMDB... 0119567:The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) Match Found, ref:0119567. Same if I do: Code: /myth/video/TV Shows/Lost/Lost Season 4/15 Lost Season 4 Episodes 13 & 14 last 2 episodes.avi Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Season: 4 Episode: 15 Prematch: 15 Lost Postmatch: Season Episodes & last End ------------------------------ TV episode, looking up TVRage website...failed, trying broader searchSearching for [ Season Episodes & last] at http://www.tvrage.com/Lost/episode_list/all
Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Lenght: 60 minutes End ------------------------------ Details ------------------------------ Title: Lost Lenght: 60 minutes End ------------------------------ TVRage has let us down, looking up imdb...

Hey BigB, just wanted to let you know, I am trying r44 and I found an example where 1.7 finds an answer but R44 does not.
Using 1.7 i get
Code: /var/lib/mythtv/videos/Movies/shows/Malcolm in the Middle/104 - Shame.avi Title so far: Prematch: /var/lib/mythtv/videos/Movies/shows/Malcolm in the Middle/ Cleaned prematch: Malcolm in the Middle Title: Malcolm in the Middle Season: 1 Episode: 4 Appears to be a TV episode, looking up TVRage website... Found a match Malcolm feels overwhelming guilt when he attacks a seven year old bully. He tries to find varies ways to repent. Meanwhile Francis tries to fix up the sex education program at military school and Hal, Reese, and Dewey become obsessed with a wood-chipper. \ufffdTitle: Malcolm in the Middle Episode: Shame Title Image: http://images.tvrage.com/shows/5/4355.jpg Episode Image: http://images.tvrage.com/screencaps/22/4355/109055.jpg Lenght: 30 minutes Director: Nick Marck Cast: Year: 2000 Plot: Malcolm feels overwhelming guilt when he attacks a seven year old bully. File exists, won't overwrite. File exists, won't overwrite. Updating DB entry
But under R44 Code: /var/lib/mythtv/videos/Movies/shows/Malcolm in the Middle/104 - Shame.avi Details ------------------------------ Title: 104 Shame Season: 1 Episode: 4 Prematch: 104 Shame Postmatch: Shame End ------------------------------ TV episode, looking up TVRage website...failed, trying broader searchSearching for [Shame] at /episode_list/all

Just mentioning it.
