Post subject: | Stable mythbox died, fixed(?) now linux won't load |
I have a mythbox which has been running smoothly for almost two years with no hardware or software changes. Late last week I discovered the videocard wasn't outputting anything and the web interface wasn't responding. Anyway, after it not POSTing, it appears the power supply died and took the graphics card/tv-out (GeForce FX5500) with it. I've replaced the power supply and put in a similar (FX5200) graphics card. Now I get pass the POST and I get the Loading linux.....BIOS verified then the screen goes blank. Additionally there is nothing on the TV-out of the card. I've tried waiting a couple of hours in case there was a checkdisk going on and I've tried getting to the web interface but it doesn't look like the box ever asks DHCP for an address. I've also tried stripping out my capture cards and booting the effect is the same. Any ideas on what to test from here? Thanks |

Have you checked the logs? /var/log/syslog and /var/log/mythtv. If you can backup, I'd say backup and auto upgrade. |

Unfortunately I don't know how to get to them. As far as I can tell, the load process doesn't get as far as the login screen and I have no way to remote in. If worse comes to worse I'll try and backup and upgrade like you suggest. I'm downloading the latest version of KnoppMyth right and will see if I can boot with the frontend mode. |
