Basically, I've had an R5.5 box hooked to a monitor (VGA/DSUB) and TV (S-video out) for while. I want to remove the monitor and TV and replace it with a DVI-->HDMI cable connected to an HDTV's HDMI input. My understanding is that in most cases, the modlines are detected and written automatically so long as the monitor/TV is connected via HDMI.

I'd like to know which script runs when R5.5 setups my hardware so that I can run it manually to have my /etc/X11/xorg.conf get auto generated to match my new HDTV. ...or is this a non-issue that will occur automatically?

Hardware specs of this machine: Athlon XP 3200+/Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe/Nvidia 8400GS running 173.14.09 (auto installed by R5.5). Dunno which HDTV I'll be using. Got it narrowed down to a Samsung or Panasonic at this point.

Thanks!

I used nvidia-settings to make an /etc/X11/xorg.conf (setting the resolution to 1680x1050 which is what the HDTV wanted), but now when I boot into fluxbox, all the font are simply enormous.

Try setting the DPI in xorg.conf.
Code:
Option "DPI" 75 x 75
or something like that.

The old one and new one both have 100x100 so it can't be that... I ended-up replacing the "Screen" section of all things which cured the problem. Thank you for the suggestion though :)
