Before I start I dont think this is a problem with R6,

There is somthing wrong with my db i think I used to look as it with access and for the last few upgrades I could never get a successful backup but my upgrade always worked.

Basically what has happends is that I installed V6 and afte the reboot I get the yellw screen and nothing else. If I press alt+s i get a message saying its going to upgrade database from 1202 to 1214 and if there is a problem there is a backup in myth/tv/ .

I have looked in there using Alt+X and there are hundreds of files in there ......Sql.gz so it looks like its cycling trying to upgrade the db then retrying.

Any help on how i can repair my database and thus get my system working.

Assuming you have a successful backup, your SQL should be in /myth/backup and not /myth/tv. If something is amiss, you can use R5.5 to auto upgrade again,

R5.5 Wont install on my system thats why I waited for R6

So ist a one way journey for me.

I think the database backup may be corupt :(

I will do a straight install To a fresh drive so I can get the tv back on

as my TV has no tuner of its own.

The updrade script of R6 seems to make a backup in the Myth/tv directory I got one added every couple of minuites after the first reeboot

Whenever my db has got a little (or a lot) screwy I use the database optimise thing... I think it's
Code:
db_optimize.sh
Run as root.

-edit- if we're still using that... I've not yet installed R6 - d/l now! But I see that things like apache have gone the way of the dodo.

Ok Ive instaled a sata hdd and done a fresh install.

Its about time i did this Ive been upgrading for 3 years now.

The fact that I had a sata DVD and an IDE hdd seemed to give previous versions of myth a headache, on this MB.

So the installation went quite easily about an hour, I went back to using EIT listings cause the Radio Times Listing XML grabber is a pain to get going.

I got little or no sound out from the system using the default ALSA driver I seem to remember struggling with this on my old setup. i installed oss drivers from the linhes menu an now I have full volume but no control over the volume control but full is good I can live with full.

so what i need to do know is reattach my old 500GB IDE Drive and copy the /myth/tv and /myth/video directorys back to my new /myth/video. or maybee ide be better leaving the drive as it is and symlinking those directories to my new drive. also i need to copy the music and gallery directories over. I have done this before I had to edit /etc/fstab if I remember.
