I got R6 up and running, and for 24 hours no problems...
So I made some minor fixes to the lircrc file and rebooted...

Front end tries to start four times, sez it can't and disables.
Five tries, same result. Any fixes, or just reload the program ?

Sounds like your X config got changed. We've seen similar things in testing. I've run aground on this many times and have been trying to track down what what is producing the bad config.

- Check your /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see what it's unhappy about.

- Take a look at your /etc/xorg.conf to see what it's missing.

Since Cecil basically restarted from scratch for R6 there are going to be a lot of areas where things just haven't been shaken out yet. Early adopters will need to be ready to do most of their own troubleshooting.

Definitely open a flyspray task on this, or pile onto an existing one.

Well, I couldn't get to the logs, and it was getting late...

Next day I tried another start, no luck, & figured WTH... Tried another upgrade.... Stalled twice after 'configuring ALSA... during startup...

Figured WTH.... started a clean install... (Installs are so easy now... it's like eating popcorn....
Up & running again.... OK... I'm observing now but it's working... If there's further 'events'.... I'll try to get to the logs, if I have to run from a CD, and post them...

At the moment everything's good.... and a couple of reboots went nominally....

This is a spare machine for fooling with, so no loss....
(I don't go near the girlz production machines unless they are already broke... & they are begging me to 'fix' it....)

not a solution... but this happened to me when i attempted to plug in a CRT TV via a component connection. before i connected the tv out, I changed the settings in linhes to request tv out via component connection.. and ten rebooted.

Mine was a clean install rather tan an upgrade.

All was fine when i was conneted through a crt monitor via VGA.

I just wanted to post this for the development people just in case it's useful. I haven't done a clean install yet.. so i can sift through the logs if it would be useful to anyone.

cheers.
