I have LinHES R6.00.08 up and running, I think. But I can't get the remote to work. I am using a serial port receiver built from the schematic on LIRC, and irecord does seem to see pulses from the remote.

This is a virgin installation, not a upgrade, so it has never worked....

I am using the Tivo Peanut remote, and I downloaded the files for it from LIRC.org and placed them in the MythVantage/templates/remotes tree, as well as the lirc/remotes tree. The menu picks it up and offers the Tivo as a choice. But it doesn't work at all.

I don't see any documentation on how to troubleshoot it. As I say, irrecord seems to see the signal, implying the hardware works.

I am trying to borrow a Hauppage Grey remote to test with, since support for this is built in, but that hasn't happened yet...

How can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
Nathan

Addendum: Since writing the above, I found a couple of suggestions in the forums. I did a lsmod | grep lirc and it returned
lirc_serial 14740 0
lirc_dev 13492 1 lirc_serial

Also, grep lirc /var/log/messages.log returns a bunch of
messages...
IR Remote registered major 61
use setserial /dev/ttySX uart none
or compile the serial port driver as module and
make sure this module is loaded first
auto detected active high receiver
lirc_register_plugin: sample rate: 0

Perhaps someone with more experience with the system can spot the problem, but this looks pretty cryptic to me....

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nathan

Have you tried using irw at all? And is your lircd.conf configured correctly?

Also, maybe this link will help.
