simonf: do you have ffmpeg or ffmpeg-svn installed? If you have the former, try installing the latter.

With the latest pacman update all appears well. MP4Box is working and myth2ipod is now working (woohoo!!)
I originally had ffmpeg and switched to ffmpeg-svn as Greg suggested, and that fixed everything right up, including errors in nuvexport.
Thanks all!!

I read somewhere to do a symlink /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 -> libjpeg.so.7.0.0 as a kludge to get around that error. idk if it's helping me though...

The symlink thing is a bad idea. There is a reason that shared objects libraries have version numbers. You may as well link it to /dev/random. The error about the library missing will go away but as soon it attempts to call into it, Bad Things (tm) will happen.
As far as the developers know, all required packages have now been rebuilt, so you shouldnt be seeing the problem if you have updated recently.
If you still see issues please let us know.

Ok
Code: sudo pacman -S ffmpeg-svn
Seems to have cured it

Hi all
I dont know wether to to start a new thread but this is sort of related to my first post
I bought an ASRock Atom 330 based mini system with an nVidia ION Graphics chipset.
http://www.asrock.com/nettop/spec/ION%20330.asp
I installed R6.08 on it and it worked OKish the HDMI out dosnt work or my tv dosnt work with it.
It boots in 1024x768 mode and I cant seem to get it to do 1280x720 to get the picture the correct aspect ratio.
So back to the story I decided to do a
Code: sudo pacman -Suyf
on both my backend and frontend. since I did it the LinHES service menu options dont do anything AND If I try to upgrade again I get the following Code: pacman -Syuf error: failed to update core-testing (No route to host) error: failed to update extra-testing (No route to host) error: failed to synchronize any databases :: Synchronizing package databases... error: failed retrieving file 'core-testing.db.tar.gz' from knoppmyth.net : No route to host error: failed retrieving file 'extra-testing.db.tar.gz' from knoppmyth.net : No route to host
So I cant now do any updates ???

simonf,
I'm interested in how your ASRock system works out. It looks like you need to get your network interface/access working before using pacman to update. I don't know if anyone else has tried getting an nVidia ION based board running under LinHES... you may be the first to try.
[edit]
Looks like the XBMC guys are running it successfully. No mention of network problems. Have you updated the BIOS?

Its Not Too Bad
Works with new update at 720p all be it displayed at 1024x768 with no tearing or jumping!!. But the people look like humpa-lumpas (short and fat with blue faces). I have cured the blue faces by adjusting the HUE moving it to the center of the scale. They are to short because the aspect ratio of the screen is wrong.
It clames to be silent (this must be a new meaning of the word silent I am unaccustomed to).
HDMI dosnt Work Yet !!
Alsa Sound Driver works (Volume low) OSS sounds like a darlek on helium with bad phlem.
boots from cold to menu in less than a minuite (but takes two minutes to shut down)
I will do a full report in a week or two when I get everything going.

Yep have seen this the errors I am getting are on both my ION frontend and my Intel backend It apears the updates i installed today have broke my backend / frontend. The LINHES service menus no longer work and pacman no loger works.

simonf,
I'm all out of advice. Sorry to hear an update broke your install. I would suggest leaving off the -f option to pacman in the future unless you are sure you want to force the update and ignore all warnings/errors. If you are still testing and don't mind wiping your drive and starting over, there should be a new LinHES test CD coming out soon... but I'm not sure how soon.

The thing that bothers me is that non of the LINHHES service menu works so I dont know yet wether a backup will work.
The only reason I ran the pacman update was to make sure the frontend/backend were running the same version of the software. somebody else must have done the upgrade so will be in the same position and hopefully a fix will emerge.
I need to rebuild my backend soon it has been very stable for a few years now but i want to add two/three sat cards (I picked up a tecnosat 2, and haupage nova s and haupage s2 card) so i can try out some HD. I want to put then in the other day to discover i had only three PCI slots. I may resorect my old athlon 1800+ backend, from my PC graveyard, that had 5 PCI's I think? Maybe this would run as a dedicated backend? I need to plan my next step forward as I want to run asterisk on a box so may be tempted to run a dedicated backend on a full linux distro and then install astrisk on that. I am going to look into some new hardware first with 5 pci slots.

Then don't use the menu:
- ctrl+alt+f2
- log in as root
- type "mythbackup"

Quote: I havent tried this yet, but it appears to solve the "Linhes Service Menu" issue... http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20210I would love to try the above BUT the update also killed pacman Quote: Then don't use the menu: - ctrl+alt+f2 - log in as root - type "mythbackup"
I tried this It didnt work for me
I get an error saying /myth/backup dosnt exist. or isnt writable etc. I could just create it as root and try again but I would like to try and get this installation working again first......
Ide rather not have to do a reinstall ive done some tweeks and things Ide just like to get pacman working.
The network card works because I can connect to it using webmin DNS works because if i do ping BBC.CO.UK
Code: ping -c 5 BBC.CO.UK PING BBC.CO.UK (212.58.224.138) 56(84) bytes of data. From mythtv.config (192.168.1.64) icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable From mythtv.config (192.168.1.64) icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable From mythtv.config (192.168.1.64) icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable From mythtv.config (192.168.1.64) icmp_seq=5 Destination Host Unreachable
--- BBC.CO.UK ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 0 received, +4 errors, 100% packet loss, time 4009ms , pipe 2
so as I said DNS Is working ! The Nic is UP .If I didnt know better Ide say it haddnt loaded the gateway ?? EDIT PS this is the result from ifconfig Code: ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:13:8F:AC:12:4F inet addr:192.168.1.64 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::213:8fff:feac:124f/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:17296 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:8861 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:2628900 (2.5 Mb) TX bytes:1742958 (1.6 Mb) Interrupt:22 Base address:0xac00

Shouldn't there be some sort of default gateway as 192.168.1.254 ?? EDIT - PS nothing external to my local subnet works !!!!!!!!!! Get_Iplayer Pacman Ping Etc. OK I have been reading up. Heres some more info ?? I ran
route add default gw 192.168.1.254 eth0
and that has fixed it
See bellow.
