Today makes the sixth anniversary of KnoppMyth. It was 6 years ago today that I first demo'd it at the OCLUG. Much thanks to all!

I've been around since R4 and happily running R5.5 (MBE)/R6 (FE) today. Quite a milestone indeed. KM/LH is the best mythtv distro on the planet. Bar none. You can also take pride in the intangibles your efforts on KM produced. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was introduced to Linux as a result of KM and used KM not only as a PVR distro, but as a Linux learning platform.

Here's to another 6 years!

Thank YOU, Cecil...

You were the principal ball carrier moving the app downfield those years.

You had a bunch a help by an amazing group of people, but they were your team. Thank you one and all.... :D

A sentiment I whole heartedly agree with.

Wow! Six years. Some marriages don't last that long. Congratulations!

All the people involved need a big pat on the back, but without you Cecil none of this wonderful community and excellent distro would not be here.

A toast should be had.

To Cecil.

Cecil,

Big thx for Your work.

I know few persons, where easiness of KM was deciding factor for starting to use myth. From this perspective KM reach perfectly its prime goal.

Also Your idea to move to Arch is IMHO perfect one. After switch from r5f27 to 6.00.08 - I'm enjoying myth & Your work even more.

Thx and keep such so good work next 10 years.

Having been around since R5A10 I must say that I have never deviated from this distro as it has always had exactly what I wanted. The help of the community that has built up around Cecil is a testament to the product that Cecil created and continues to progress now and into the future.

To me this is the base upon which others should be measured.

And to use a little poetic licence (Le Roi est mort, vive le Roi!), "Knoppmyth is dead, long live LinHES!"

I remember thinking "Why the eff isn't Myth easier to install and upgrade?!?" after an upgrade to my Fedora-based myth box tanked.

That's when the Great and Mighty Google pointed me to KM R5 (C7 I think.)

I think the most telling testimonial is, before KM my family didn't like the myth box. After KM was installed they did.

A little over a year ago the motherboard fried. When I told them Myth was broken they reacted like I told them the cat was hit by a car. "You can fix it RIGHT?!!"

Thanks Cecil!!

Hi!

I have to agree with almost all comments with exception to one. Having worked with KM for quite some time and still running R5F27, Girkers is mistaken when he says: "Knoppmyth is dead, long live LinHES!" as my KM boxes are very much alive and doing very well!

Many THANKS to Cecil for both KnoppMyth and now LinHES as we move into the digital future. I have learned much by having the opportunity to work with both KM & now LinHES. Who knows, someday I may actually move to LinHES.

Best wishes for the future Cecil! You have a great support team also and many thanks to them as well!

Mike
