I've been running with the mythtv-vdpau package replacing the standard mythtv package for a while and have been very happy with the picture quality.
BUT I've just noticed that none of my commflag or transcode jobs have been working with mythtv-vdpau. When I run from the command line I get something like
Code: [mark@mythbox ~]$ mythtranscode -v all -i /media/datastore02/recordings/2010_20090927145700.mpg -m --showprogress > mtc.log 2>&1 *** glibc detected *** mythtranscode: free(): invalid pointer: 0xb706220f *** ======= Backtrace: ========= /lib/libc.so.6[0xb59b9ef4] /lib/libc.so.6(cfree+0x9c)[0xb59bb7cc] /usr/lib/libmythavutil-0.21.so.0(av_free+0x1f)[0xb7200fdf] ======= Memory map: ========
...
I get similar errors with mythcommflag. Both applications work fine once I've gone back to the standard mythtv package.
Any suggestions?

Hi, There's a flyspray bug for this: http://linhes.org/flyspray/index.php?do=details&task_id=513I thought it was the vdpau version too, for what it's worth, but other Mike said mihanson wrote: I'm not using the VDPAU on my MBE where I ran into trouble with MythArchive...
Can you please revert to the non-vdpau version and try again? I shall do the same when I can. I think our problem is different to his, and ours is almost certainly DVB-specific (no Americans have had the problem thus far).

FWIW, the recordings I'm attempting to archive are ATSC, recorded with tuner cards setup as DVB cards. I've launched the mytharchive process from frontends that have the mythtv-vdpau package installed as well as from the backend itself, which does not have the mythtv-vdpau package. Results are the same no matter where I start the mytharchive process. Cesman has the problem too, but said it did not happen when "Autoplay - Simple" profile was selected in mytharchive (no menus). I have not tested the "Autoplay - Simple" method yet, but I'd be willing to bet that if cesman said it worked, it will. The problem seems to lie in the menu creation.

Yeah, I have reverted to the non-vdpau version and both mythtranscode and mythcommflag work fine.
Just following that flyspray discussion, I'm in Australia, using DVB.

I reckon that would qualify as "getting somewhere"

It appears that this bug is squashed. Will that solve my issue with mythtv-vdpau as well, or did it turn out to be unrelated?

Most likely unrelated.

There will be no further support for mythtv-vdpau. I tried contact the author of the backport regarding issues we were seeing but my attempts didn't bear fruit.
